Description
The Main Salmon is on any serious river runner’s must-do list, for good reasons. This wild, pristine river cuts through North America’s second deepest canyon, delivering Class II to IV rapids and world-class white water every day. Explore by river the Salmon-Challis National Forest, Payette, and the Bitterroot, as well as the famed Frank Church Wilderness Area – the largest unspoiled wildnerness in the Continental U.S. This tempestuous waterway earned the monikor “River of No Return” when settlers found it can be traversed one way only — downstream. The visual offerings from this river are as compelling as its current. Crystal-clear mountain streams feed the river along the way, luring elk, deer, moose, bighorn sheep, bear, eagles, otters – even the elusive timber wolf. The scenery is punctured here and there with natural hot springs and Native American hieroglyphs. Whether you are a professional, seasoned or novice photographer, the Salmon River surroundings provide endless opportunities for your nature portfolio. Main Salmon Wilderness Rafting Adventure 6-DAY TRIP: Experience a world-class river adventure, with first night’s lodging, meal and shower at the famous Salmon River Lodge Resort. Launch from the private dock directly into the Main Salmon River. Enjoy Dutch oven-style meals, and camp on white, sandy beaches under tall pines. Raft & Ride 2-DAY TRIP: This is a personal, private outing for you and close friends or family. It begins with a full day of rafting the Salmon River whitewater from Spring Creek to the Resort for a hot shower, satisfying meal, and cozy night’s rest. The next day, ride horseback up the trail to inhale the rugged wilderness, watch the wildlife, or fish in a mountain lake. After a fresh lunch, you’ll be back on the river, floating peacefully past the confluence of the Middle Fork and Main Salmon River, and running rapids below. Return to the Resort, shower, and enjoy another home-style dinner before retiring and a morning meal before returning home. Rafting & Resort 1-DAY TRIP: Raft the Salmon River whitewater from Spring Creek, view historic sites and wild country along the way to the Resort where you’ll enjoy the Resort’s beautiful river-front property, a hot shower, a home-cooked meal, and cozy bed. If for some reason you have to cancel, you will lose your deposit and any payments you have made. If you are concerned that you might get sick or otherwise have to cancel, we suggest buying trip insurance. There are insurance companies that specialize in providing insurance policies for outfitter bookings and hunts. One such company we recommend is globalrescue.com. It is also our policy, depending on the adventure you booked and at our discretion, that if you have to cancel and we are able to book a replacement for you at the regular price we will work with you to apply your deposits to another adventure. Please note that we cannot refund or roll state or government license fees, application fees, draw results, or tags.
